Rishikesh, 18 December, 2025: In a proud moment for THDC India Limited and the State of Uttarakhand, four students representing the State were honoured with consolation awards at the National-level Painting Competition held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, on the occasion of National Energy Conservation Day 2025. This achievement not only highlights THDC India Limited’s (the nodal agency for the state of Uttarakhand) commitment to promoting energy conservation awareness among young minds but also brings prestige and recognition to the organization and the State.
The Competition was organized by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) under the Ministry of Power, Government of India. Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, felicitated the winners of the National Energy Conservation Awards (NECA) 2025 and the National Painting Competition on Energy Conservation 2025.
Addressing the gathering, Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu said that energy conservation is the most environmentally friendly and reliable source of energy. Energy conservation is not just an option, but the most crucial need of today. She underlined that saving energy doesn't simply mean using less, but rather utilizing energy wisely, responsibly, and efficiently.
Shri Manohar Lal, Hon’ble Union Minister of Power and Housing & Urban Affairs remarked that India is leading the global energy transition, aligning with the goal of keeping global temperature rise below 2°C. He also highlighted India’s rapid economic growth alongside an impressive rate of energy efficiency improvements.
Shri Shripad Naik. Hon’ble Minister of State for Power and New & Renewable Energy, in his address, noted that the National Energy Conservation Awards have fostered a strong tradition of recognizing exemplary efforts in energy conservation. He emphasized that energy conservation is not only about technology but also about changing behaviors.
Shri Pankaj Agarwal, Secretary (Ministry of Power), Govt. of India, stated that the visionary leadership of the Hon’ble Prime Minister has been pivotal in placing energy efficiency and conservation at the core of India’s development strategy. He added that India’s energy security, green growth, and the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 can only be achieved through judicious energy use.
Shri Sipan Kumar Garg, Chairman and Managing Director, THDC India Limited warmly congratulated the winners and the State of Uttarakhand on this achievement. He emphasized that initiatives like the National Painting Competition serve as impactful platforms to raise widespread awareness about energy conservation while inspiring children to become ambassadors of sustainability for a greener future.
Miss. Pihu Rani and Master Ridam Das from Group A and Ms. Isheeta Kumari and Ms. Shatakshi Vatsh from Group B, Uttarakhand were awarded with consolation prizes during the ceremony.
Sh. Neeraj Verma, ED (IC/NCR), Dr. A. N. Tripathy, CGM (HR-Admin, CC), Sh. A. K. Vishwakarma, DGM (HR) and Nodal Officer (Uttarakhand) along with other officers of THDCIL, Ministry of Power and other PSUs were also present during the occasion.
