On the occasion of International Labour Day, THDC India Limited’s under-construction Vishnugad-Pipalkoti Hydro Electric Project (VPHEP) organized a series of day-long programs in the interest of the workers. These initiatives focused on promoting awareness about labour rights and ensuring better health for the workforce.
As part of the observance, VPHEP conducted a Free Health Check-up Camp for workers engaged in various construction activities of the project. Under the leadership of Dr. Nikita Sharma (Senior Medical Officer), the medical team carried out health check-ups including blood pressure, sugar levels, and general illnesses. Free medicines were distributed as per the diagnoses.
The health camp was inaugurated by Sh. Ajay Verma (Head of Project, VPHEP), who marked the beginning by undergoing a BP test himself. Extending greetings to all workers on Labour Day, he remarked:
“Labour Day reminds us of the significance of those hardworking hands that form the foundation of this project. The contribution of workers is vital to the progress of VPHEP. THDCIL is fully committed to safeguarding their health and rights.”
Alongside the health camp, the Vigilance Department, Pipalkoti, organized a Labour Rights Workshop to educate workers about their legal rights under Indian labour laws, including safety provisions and grievance redressal mechanisms. The session was addressed by Sh. Kamal Nautiyal (Deputy General Manager, Vigilance) and Sh. Sumit Tamta (Senior Manager, Vigilance), who explained how labour laws are designed to protect workers’ interests and ensure a safe and dignified work environment.
The event was graced by senior project officials including Sh. P.S. Rawat (AGM In-charge, Power House), Sh. B.S. Pundir (AGM, Planning & Safety), Sh. R.S. Makhloga (DGM In-charge, Mechanical), Sh.
