Rishikesh: 30-08-2023:-Sh. R. K. Vishnoi, CMD, NHPC THDC held meeting with Hon’ble Lt. Governor of J&K Sh. Manoj Sinha. During the meeting Sh. Vishnoi laid emphasis on the need for development of Mega Hydro Projects for harnessing of the vast untapped Hydropower potential in the UT of Jammu Kashmir. This would be an important Milestone for the overall development of the UT, by being harbinger of prosperity and social upliftment, apart from immensely contributing towards the National Energy and Water Security. Sh. Vishnoi informed that the Government of India has set an ambitious target of attaining Net Zero Carbon Emission norm by 2070. Jammu Kashmir has most significant role in this Mission with the UT having total Hydropower potential of some 20 Gigawatt. He added that Central CPSUs such as THDC India Limited and NHPC having core strength in Hydro Sector are most appropriately positioned for efficient and economic harnessing of Hydro Energy. Sh. Vishnoi stated that THDC India Limited and NHPC are already most successfully harnessing Mega Hydro Projects in various parts of the country and have State-of-Art expertise in all verticals of Hydro Energy, e.g. Construction as well as Operation and Maintenance of Mega Hydro Projects. The Hon’ble Lt Governor expressed his appreciation for the commendable works being carried out by NHPC for the development of Hydropower Projects in JK. He assured Sh. Vishnoi of all support from UT administration of J&K as well as the local authorities in faster implementation of the upcoming projects as well as assured of all help in exploration and harnessing of New Hydro Projects. Sh. Vishnoi CMD conveyed his sincere gratitude to Hon’ble Lt. Governor for his overall guidance and support and assured him of his commitment for prompt action towards harnessing of New Hydro Projects in J&K, by THDC and NHPC.
