Vishnoi, Chairman and Managing Director, THDC India Limited informed that the organization been conferred with Prestigious CSR Times Award for its outstanding achievement in Corporate Social Responsibility Initiatives with a focus on ‘Water Conservation and Management’. The Award ceremony was presided by Hon’ble Union Minister of State, Health and Family Welfare, Prof. S. P. Singh Baghel. Dr. Laszlo Makk, Deputy Head of Mission, Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary, Embassy of Hungary handed over the award under the 10th National CSR Summit CSR Times Award, 2023; conference on the theme: “Achieving SDGs Through CSR In Developing Economics: Role of G20 Nations”, organized by The CSR TIMES on 21st August 2023. Sh. Vishnoi added that THDCIL's remarkable endeavour in the realm of water conservation and environmental management have not only garnered appreciation but have transformed lives in the rural villages of Tehri Garhwal. These efforts have significantly eased the financial and physical burdens of the villagers by ensuring improved water availability. ShVishnoi further added that the jury members and the chief guest at the event lauded THDCIL's sincere commitment to addressing acute water scarcity issues within its operational region. In response to the dire warnings about water crisis severity from UNDP, THDCIL initiated its CSR-driven 'Water Conservation and Management' project, executed through its sponsored society 'SEWA-THDC’. Under this groundbreaking initiative, THDCIL has achieved remarkable milestones, including the construction of 972 rainwater harvesting tanks, 2282 water recharge pits, 610 water trenches, 70 check dams, and 63 Chal-Khal structures. These efforts have not only alleviated water scarcity during lean seasons but have also breathed new life into Pratapnagar and Bhilangana Blocks of Tehri district, he added. Speaking on the occasion, Sh. Shallinder Singh, Director (Personnel), THDCIL informed that in addition to its stellar water conservation project, THDCIL actively engages in healthcare initiatives. It operates allopathic and homeopathic dispensaries in areas affected by its projects and conducts medical camps across its operational domains, prioritizing the health and well-being of local communities. Education, too, stands as a cornerstone of THDCIL's CSR philosophy. The company operates schools tailored for marginalized children, fostering educational opportunities where they are most needed. Furthermore, THDCIL contributes significantly to skill development by offering training programs and scholarships, empowering disadvantaged youths with essential skills for a brighter future. Empowerment, especially of women, remains central to THDCIL's CSR initiatives. Computer training, tailoring programs, beautician courses, and various livelihood activities are empowering women, contributing to their socio-economic growth and self-sufficiency. In its commitment to sustainable progress, THDCIL extends support to the agricultural sector. Farmers benefit from fruit saplings, vegetable seeds, polyhouses, and relevant training to enhance agricultural practices and increase yields.
