Rishikesh: 08.04.2022-Sh. R.K. Vishnoi CMD, THDCIL chaired the Technical Session on “Dealing with Natural Hazards and Risks” International Conference on Hydropower and Dams Development for Water and Energy Security – Under Changing Climate from 7th to 9th April 2022 at Rishikesh. Sh. R.K. Vishnu CMD, THDCIL is also the Chairman of the organizing committee of this Conference. Technical Session –IV of the conference on 08.04.2022 which focussed on “Dealing with Natural Hazards and Risks” which was chaired by Sh. R.K. Vishnoi, CMD, THDCIL and Co-Chaired by Sh. Satish Upadhyay, ED, NTPC. The keynote presentation of the session was on Adapting management to address the challenges of a pandemic due to water by Dr.Olcay Unver, Arizona State University. It is to mention that in Session-V which was on Pumped Storage Development-Current trends and future challenges Sh. L.P. Joshi, Chief General Manager, (Electrical-Design), THDCIL also presented a technical paper on Current trends and future challenges and policies to PSP Growth. Central Board of Irrigation and Power (CBIP) and THDC India Limited is hosting this international conference. The conference is scheduled to be held physically from the 7th to the 8th of April, 2022 at Rishikesh, and dam professionals from 104 ICOLD member countries will join virtually, followed by a field visit to the Tehri Dam site. From 15 countries, 70 full text of technical papers has been received from the national and international dam experts out of which 42 will be presented during the plenary session and 6 technical sessions, which would certainly add new dimensions to the body of knowledge on the subject. More than 350 participants from India and overseas countries are participating in the deliberations of this event.
