The Command and Control Centre of the newly installed Early Flood Warning System (EFWS) at THDC India Limited’s 444 MW Vishnugad-Pipalkoti Hydro Electric Project (VPHEP) was formally inaugurated on 16 July, 2025 by the Project Head, Shri Ajay Verma, with a ceremonial puja.
On this occasion, the Safety Department presented a detailed overview of the working mechanism, operations, and flood management capabilities of the EFWS. In addition, the Planning Department gave a technical presentation on preparedness under the Monsoon Plan 2025.
Speaking at the event, Shri Ajay Verma, Project Head, said that “As a responsible public sector enterprise, THDC accords the highest priority to the safety of its employees, contractors, and the surrounding communities. This advanced early warning system will significantly enhance our ability to anticipate and respond swiftly to any flood-related emergencies, thereby ensuring the safety of lives and assets.”
He also instructed members of the Emergency Response Team to be alert and act promptly and responsibly in any emergency scenario.
Senior officials including Shri B.S. Pundir, Addl. General Manager (Planning & Safety), Shri Sanjay Mamgain, Addl. General Manager (Mechanical/Hydro-Mechanical), Shri S.P. Dobhal, Addl. General Manager (Power House), Shri Kamal Nautiyal, DGM (Vigilance), Shri V.D. Bhatt, Sr. Manager (HR & Admin), Shri Vinay Kumar Sheel, Sr. Manager (Planning), and Shri P.N. Mamgain, Manager (Security) were present during the program.
