Sh. R.K. Vishnoi, Chairman & Managing Director of THDCIL, announced another significant milestone for the Khurja Super Thermal Power Project (2x660 MW), as Unit #2 successfully achieved the Turbine Barring Gear (TG) operation on 25th March 2025.
Sh. Vishnoi stated that the completion of this critical installation underscores the Khurja project team’s commitment to achieving high standards of technical excellence while adhering to project deadlines. THDCIL has a diversified portfolio encompassing Hydro, Thermal, Wind, and Solar energy projects, reinforcing its role in India's energy transition. He further emphasized that the Khurja Super Thermal Power Project underscores the significance of Reliable Power generation with adhereance to State-of-Art environmental norms contributing to the nation’s growing energy demands while maintaining high operational standards.
Sh. Vishnoi further added that this milestone is a testament to the steady progress of the project and its adherence to planned timelines. With the successful installation of the Turbine Barring Gear, the next major milestone is the Boiler Light-Up for Unit #2, which will initiate the steam generation process.
Sh. Bhupender Gupta, Director (Technical),THDCIL congratulated Team KSTPP on this significant achievement and emphasized that the Turbine Barring Gear is a crucial activity in the process of commissioning a thermal power plant and it ensures the safe operation of the turbine during startup, shutdown, and idle periods by preventing thermal stresses and mitigating potential mechanical issues. This mechanism plays a vital role in maintaining the turbine in optimal condition, ensuring efficient future operations.
This success is the result of meticulous planning, teamwork, and close coordination among THDCIL, NTPC BHEL, and other key stakeholders, ensuring the seamless progression and Commissiong of Unit#2.
The occasion was graced by the presence of senior officials, including Shri Kumar Sharad, Executive Director (Project); Shri B.K. Sahoo, GM (O&M); Shri Sandeep Bhatnagar, GM (Finance); Shri R.M.
