Power Plants under Operation:
Presently, THDCIL has a total installed capacity of 2,747 MW, which comprises 1,924 MW from Hydro (Tehri HPP 1,000 MW, Tehri PSP Units 1 & 2(500 MW), Koteshwar HEP 400 MW, and Dhukwan SHP 24 MW), 113 MW from Wind (Patan 50 MW and Devbhumi Dwarka 63 MW), 50 MW from Solar (Kasaragod Solar Plant, Kerala), and 660 MW from Thermal (Khurja STPP Unit-1, Uttar Pradesh). In addition, THDCIL operates the Amelia Coal Mine in Madhya Pradesh with a production capacity of 5.6 MTPA.
Projects Under Construction:
At present, THDCIL has three Hydro/RE projects of 955 MW and one Thermal project of 660 MW under construction. These include the Tehri Pumped Storage Plant Units 3 & 4 (500 MW) in Uttarakhand, the Vishnugad Pipalkoti Hydro Electric Project (444 MW) in Uttarakhand, the Floating Solar Power Project (11 MW) at Khurja STPP in Uttar Pradesh, and the Khurja Super Thermal Power Project Unit-2 (660 MW) in Uttar Pradesh.
Projects Pipeline & Expansion:
THDCIL is pursuing an ambitious expansion strategy with a diverse portfolio of projects under various stages of development across multiple states in India, including Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh. The company’s growth roadmap encompasses Hydro Electric Project, Pumped Storage, Solar, Ground mounted, Roof top and Floating Solar PV Planand other projects, reflecting its commitment to a sustainable and clean energy.
In addition, THDCIL is actively developing Ultra Mega Renewable Energy Power Parks (UMREPPs) through strategic joint ventures with states like Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. These partnerships are focused on establishing large-scale solar and hybrid projects to accelerate the transition toward clean energy.
With a robust project pipeline and strategic collaborations, THDCIL is poised to significantly enhance its installed capacity in the coming decade, reinforcing its role as a key contributor to India’s sustainable energy infrastructure.
