Chamoli, 13 February 2025: THDC India Limited’s Vishnugad-Pipalkoti Hydro Electric Project (VPHEP) organized an awareness program on girls' health, hygiene, and women’s equality and rights at Janta High School and Junior High School, Bemru. The event was conducted by the Social Department of VPHEP to educate and empower young girls on these crucial issues.
A total of 40 girl students from classes 6 to 10 participated in the session. The awareness talk was delivered by Senior Medical Officer, VPHEP, Dr. Nikita Sharma, who highlighted essential health and hygiene practices, the importance of cleanliness, and the rights of women in society. She also engaged in an interactive discussion with the students, addressing their queries and concerns related to these topics.
Speaking on this initiative, Sh. Ajay Verma, Chief General Manager and Head of VPHEP, stated, “THDC India Limited is committed to the wellbeing and empowerment of women in the project-affected areas.Through such awareness programs, we aim to equip young girls with knowledge that will help them lead healthier and more confident lives.VPHEP will continue to support and implement initiatives that foster women’s empowerment and social welfare.”
VPHEP has been actively running various women-centric initiatives in the project-affected villages, including livelihood and skill development programs for women, Saheli awareness programs focusing on women's health and hygiene, and widow pension schemes, among others.
The event was well received by the students and the school administration, who appreciated THDCIL’s continuous efforts toward community welfare and women’s empowerment.
