Pipalkoti, Chamoli | 12 July 2025, As part of the 38th Foundation Day celebrations of THDC India Limited, a series of sports competitions were successfully organised at the Vishnugad-Pipalkoti Hydro Electric Project (VPHEP) from 07 July to 09 July 2025. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from officers, employees, and members of technical units, creating a vibrant atmosphere of teamwork, energy, and harmony at the workplace.
The competitions commenced with a volleyball match on 07 July, which was inaugurated by Shri Ajay Verma, Chief General Manager (Project), who interacted with the players and extended his best wishes. This was followed by badminton (singles and doubles) matches, where participants from various departments showcased spirited performances.
On this occasion, Shri Ajay Verma remarked,
“Sports not only strengthen physical and mental well-being but also reinforce values of teamwork, cooperation, and healthy competitiveness in organisational culture. THDC has always been committed to fostering an inclusive, positive, and engaging work environment.”
In badminton singles, Shri Kamal Mehta (Assistant Engineer, Power House) emerged as the winner, while Shri Adarsh Kushwaha (Assistant Manager, Electrical & Communication) secured the runner-up position. In the doubles category, the pair of Shri Satendra Kunwar (Assistant Engineer, TBM) and Shri Ravindra Rawat (JE, Dam) clinched first place, while the runner-up position was secured by Shri D.S. Panchpal (Senior Manager, B&R) and Shri Kamal Mehta (Assistant Engineer, Power House).

Both teams displayed commendable enthusiasm, discipline, and competitive spirit, contributing significantly to the success of the event.
All winners were felicitated during the Foundation Day closing ceremony held on 12 July 2025 by Shri K.P. Singh, General Manager (TBM/Social & Environment) along with other senior officials.
This sporting event not only infused a sense of collective energy among the workforce but also reflected the vibrant, united, and motivated work culture of VPHEP. The organising committee, participants, and all supporting units were thanked and appreciated for making the event a grand success.
