Chamoli, February 13, 2025 – As part of its ongoing efforts to positively engage with local communities and enhance awareness about hydroelectric projects, THDC India Limited (THDCIL) organized an educational industrial visit for 56 students and 07 teachers from PM Shri Rajkiye Aadarsh Inter College, Bairaskund, at its Vishnugad-Pipalkoti Hydro Electric Project (VPHEP) unit. Led by the Public Relations (HR&A) Department of VPHEP, this initiative aimed to strengthen relationships with the local populace and highlight the benefits of the project.
Sh. Avinash Kumar, Assistant Manager (PR) and Sh. Ahmed Reza, Asst. Manager (HR), welcomed the visiting students at the Alaknandapuram Campus of VPHEP. Sh. Avinash Kumar introduced them to the operations of THDC India Limited and the 444 MW Vishnugad-Pipalkoti Hydro Electric Project, emphasizing its role in sustainable energy generation and regional development.
During the session, Sh. Akhand Pratap Singh, Deputy Manager (CO), delivered a detailed presentation on the working principles and components of the run-of-the-river VPHEP project. He explained the intricacies of hydroelectric power generation through an informative PowerPoint presentation. Additionally, Sh. Raju Maurya, Deputy Manager(TBM), provided insights into the functioning of the Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM), a crucial component in tunnel construction for the project.
Following a comprehensive safety briefing, the students visited the Power Complex, where they gained a practical understanding of the power generation process. Sh. Abdul Laique, Manager (PH), and Sh. Gaurav Bhatt, Deputy Manager (PH), engaged with the students, addressing their queries and providing in-depth explanations about hydroelectric power generation.
Throughout the visit, a dedicated team from the Safety Department of VPHEP ensured adherence to all safety protocols, making the experience both informative and secure for the students.
