On the occasion of International Day of Education (24th January 2025), THDC India Limited, in collaboration with HCC, organized an educational industrial visit to the 444 MW Vishnugad-Pipalkoti Hydro Electric Project (VPHEP) for the students of Christ Academy, Gopeshwar. A group of 39 Class X students, accompanied by six faculty members, visited the project to gain valuable insights into hydroelectric power generation and the advanced engineering techniques involved in such projects.
Facilitated by the officers of THDC India Limited and HCC, the visit was conducted while adhering to all safety norms and measures. The students explored key components of the VPHEP, including the powerhouse, transformer hall, and Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) sites. They witnessed the ongoing TBM tunnel works and learned about advanced tunneling techniques, along with the benefits of utilizing TBM technology in large-scale infrastructure projects.
Speaking on the occasion, Sh. Ajay Verma, Head of Project (HoP), VPHEP, said, "On the request of Christ Academy, we organized this educational visit to provide local students with an opportunity to understand the significance of hydroelectric projects. This initiative is not only beneficial for the students in terms of knowledge and exposure but also serves the project’s interest as these students come from local families and are key stakeholders in the region's development."
The visit allowed students to connect theoretical knowledge with practical implementation, fostering a deeper understanding of renewable energy and sustainable development. It also highlighted the importance of hydroelectric projects in meeting the nation’s energy demands while minimizing environmental impact.
The students expressed their gratitude to THDC India Limited for organizing the visit, describing it as an inspiring experience that broadened their horizons and motivated them to learn more about engineering and sustainable energy solutions.
THDC India Limited remains committed to engaging with local communities and promoting educational initiatives that contribute to the holistic development of the region.
