Daswana, Chamoli | March 24, 2025 THDC India Limited’s Vishnugad-Pipalkoti Hydro Electric Project (VPHEP) continues its efforts to promote livelihood enhancement in project-affected gram sabhas. As part of this initiative, a knitting training center has been established in Daswana village to empower women by enhancing their skills and creating opportunities for self-employment.
Through this training center, more than 15 women will receive knitting training, enabling them to develop a valuable skill that can contribute to their economic independence. A master trainer will guide the participants in learning various knitting techniques, helping them build expertise for future self-sufficiency.
On this occasion, Sh. Ajay Verma, Head of Project (VPHEP), emphasized the significance of this initiative, stating - "THDC India Limited is committed to the overall development of communities in project-affected areas.The establishment of this knitting training center is an important step toward empowering women and making them financially independent. Our goal is to equip women with skills that enable them to become self-reliant and contribute to strengthening their family's economic stability."
The event was attended by Dr. Nikita Sharma (Senior Medical Officer), Ms. Abhijita Sahu (Field Officer-Social), Social Worker Mrs. Neelam, and Mrs. Rameswari Hatwal. The initiative was well received by the local women, further strengthening THDCIL’s efforts in community development and women empowerment.
