The Vishnugad-Pipalkoti Hydro Electric Project (VPHEP) Unit of THDC India Limited (THDCIL) organized a one-day comprehensive safety workshop on the crucial topic of “Disaster Management and Fire Safety.” This event, held on 22 August 2024, was aimed at enhancing safety protocols at the construction site and ensuring the preparedness of personnel in managing emergency situations. Sh. S.K. Bhatnagar, Senior Safety Consultant from the National Safety Council, Uttarakhand participated in the workshop as a training faculty.
Sh. Bhatnagar emphasized the critical aspects of disaster management and fire safety, providing in-depth training to 22 participants from various departments of the Unit. The participants, who were the members of the “Response Team - Fire & Rescue,” were equipped with effective strategies for managing potential hazards, specifically tailored to the unique challenges faced in large-scale hydroelectric projects.
During the event, the Chief General Manager (Project), Sh. Ajay Verma, highlighted the importance of regular training and workshop sessions in mitigating risks and strengthening the overall safety framework at the project site. He underscored that such safety workshops are integral to the successful execution of large-scale infrastructure projects like VPHEP. “As the construction of the project is at full pace, we have to maintain this progress but with utmost safety,” Sh. Verma remarked.
The workshop also marked the presence of several officers, including Sh. J.S. Bist, AGM-Incharge (Mechanical, S&E); Sh. K.P. Singh, AGM-Incharge, TBM; Sh. R.P. Mishra, AGM-Incharge (DAM); Sh. B.S. Pundir, AGM, Planning & Safety; and Sh. O.P. Arya, DGM, CO.
