Rishikesh 01.10.2023:-Sh. Pankaj Agarwal, Secretary(Power),MOP (GOI) undertook a detailedinspection visitof2400 MW Tehri Hydro Complex at Tehri, Uttarakhand. Sh. R. K. Vishnoi, Chairman and Managing Director, THDC India Limited, extended a warm welcome and conveyed his heartfelt gratitude to Sh. Pankaj Agarwal for his first-ever visit to THDCIL. Sh. J. Behera, Director(Finance), Sh. Shallinder Singh, Director(Personnel), and Sh. Bhupender Gupta, Director(Technical), extended their greetings to Sh. Pankaj Agarwal on his arrival atTehri Complex. Sh. Pankaj Agarwaladministered the Swacchata Pakhwada pledge at Tehri, during his visit to Tehri Project. Secretary (Power) along with THDC Management, Officers, and local residents of Bhagirathipuram, Tehri performedShramdaan for Cleanliness Drive at shopping complex at Bhagirathipuram, Tehri. Sh. Pankaj Agarwal evinced keen interest and conducted a detailed inspection of all the major components of the Project such as, Upstream Surge shafts, Butterfly Valve chamber, Penstock assembly chamber, Power House and TRT outfall. Later, he held a detailed Review Meeting with the Management and Senior Officers of the Tehri Hydro Project, at Tehri. The key highlight of his visit was to have a detailed overview of the progress of the Operation and Maintenance activities of 1000 MW Tehri HEP as well as the progress of ongoing activities of 1000 MW(4×250) Tehri Pumped Storage Plant. He conveyed appreciation of the highest standards of OM activities being carried out by THDC Officials and stated that THDC is not only valuably contributing by providing affordable Clean and Green Energy to the Northern Grid but also played most significant role in Flood Control as well as extending Irrigation related benefits, leading to overall socio-economic upliftment of the entire region. Sh. Bhupender Gupta, Director (Technical) and Sh. L. P. Joshi, ED(Tehri Complex) provided valuable insights into the ongoing works of the 4×250 MW Tehri PSP, which is a significant part of India's Hydroelectric Energy Generation infrastructure. Sh. R. K. Vishnoi emphasized that the Tehri PSP is the largest Pumped Storage Plant among the CPSUs in the country, and Secretary (Power)'s visit underscores the Government's commitment to clean and sustainable energy solutions. Sh. Vishnoi further informed that the first unit of THDC’s flagship Tehri PSP is scheduled to be commissioned in February 2024 followed by other units in phases.
