Pipalkoti, August 28, 2025: A devastating cloudburst struck the Tharali region of Chamoli district on August 22, 2025, causing widespread destruction and loss of lives. Responding swiftly to the calamity, THDC India Limited’s Vishnugad-Pipalkoti Hydro Electric Project (VPHEP), in coordination with District Magistrate Chamoli, Shri Sandeep Tiwari, extended timely relief support to the affected families by providing essential grocery items.
A mini truck carrying relief materials was flagged off from the project premises by Shri K.P. Singh, General Manager (Social & Environment/TBM), THDCIL.
Following discussions with the District Magistrate, THDCIL distributed 80 relief kits among the disaster-affected families. Each relief kit contained essential food items and daily-use materials, including 5 kg wheat flour, 5 kg rice, pulses, cooking oil, salt, spices, sugar, tea leaves, milk powder, and biscuit packets.
By extending this support, THDC India Limited (VPHEP) once again reaffirmed its commitment not only to executing developmental projects but also to fulfilling its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) towards society, especially in times of crisis.
On this occasion, the District Magistrate of Chamoli expressed his gratitude towards THDCIL and stated that this humanitarian support would provide much-needed relief to the affected families during this difficult period.
