THDC India Limited (THDCIL), like every year, this year too celebrated the World Environment Day on 05th June 2024 at its Sustainable Livelihood and Community Development Center in Rishikesh.
The event was inaugurated by Sh. Shallinder Singh, Director (Personnel), THDCIL with the traditional lighting of the lamp. Distinguished guests and renowned Environmentalist Padmashri Shri Kalyan Singh Rawat & Sh. Sachidannand Bharti along with other senior officers of THDCIL graced the occasion with their presence.
Addressing the gathering, Director (Personnel) stated that the underlined themes for the occasion i.e. #OurLandOurFuture and #GenerationRestoration were most apt for the World today considering critical environmental issues such as rising temperatures, shrinking forest covers, and the increasing water crisis. He urged participants to pledge for a clean environment and sustainability, encouraging everyone to plant at least two saplings annually to combat global warming.
Awareness lectures were delivered by both eminent environmentalists on the theme “Land Restoration, Desertification, and Drought Resilience” for encouraging and motivating the attendees. The keynote speakers discussed pressing environmental concerns, emphasizing sustainable practices and ecological balance. Their insights and experiences inspired the attendees, highlighting the importance of collective efforts in environmental conservation.
On this occasion, a plantation drive was also organized at the center by planting saplings of indigenous species.
Officials of S&E, HRD & SEWA-THDC were present during the occasion including senior officers Sh. Amardeep, GM (S&E), Sh. P.K. Naithani, OSD, Sh. S.K. Sharma, AGM (HRD), Sh. Vipin Thapliyal, DGM (Envt) and, Sh. D.P. Tyagi, Sr. Manager, underscoring the organization’s collective commitment to a greener and more resilient environment.
