Tehri: 26.05.2022-The Consultative Committee of Ministry of Power convened a meeting on the subject “The Need for Enhancing Hydro-Capacity” on 26th May, 2022 at Tehri Hydro Power Project. The Hon’ble Cabinet Minister for Power and New Renewable Energy, Govt. of India Sh. R. K. Singh chaired the meeting. Hon’ble Minister of State for Power and Heavy Industries, Govt. of India Sh. Krishan Pal was also present during the meeting. The Hon’ble Member of Parliament (MP) are the members of this Consultative Committee of MoP. Hon’ble MP(Lok Sabha), Tehri, Smt. Mala Rajya Lakshmi Shah attended the meeting as Special Invitee. (The agenda note of the above meeting are attached for ready reference). During the meeting Hon’ble Cabinet Minister for Power and New Renewable Energy, Govt. of India, Sh. R. K. Singh emphasized that the development of any nation depends on the availability of energy therefore, the subject of the meeting i.e., The Need for Enhancing Hydro Capacity is an important part of our Energy Policy. He further added that the economy of India is developing and simultaneously the energy demand is also rising. At the view point of Tehri Dam a special presentation on the “Journey of Tehri Dam” was made for the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Sh. Pushkar Singh Dhami and Hon’ble Cabinet Minister for Power and New Renewable Energy, Govt. of India Sh. R. K. Singh along with the Hon’ble Member of Parliament (MP) and senior officials of Ministry of Power and Central Power Sector PSUs. Sh. Rajeev Vishnoi, CMD, THDC India Limited delivered the welcome address and shared his vast experience as a Technocrat associated with Tehri Dam. Hon’ble Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Sh. Pushkar Singh Dhami, Hon’ble Cabinet Minister for Power and New Renewable Energy, Govt. of India Sh. R. K. Singh addressed the gathering on this occasion. Today, THDCIL is one of the premier power generators in the country with installed capacity of 1587 MW with commissioning of Tehri Dam HPP (1000MW), Koteshwar HEP (400MW) in Uttarakhand,Wind Power Projects of 50MW at Patan 63MW at Dwarka in Gujarat, 24MW Dhukwan Small Hydro Project, Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh and 50 MW Solar Power Project at Kasaragod, Kerala to its credit.
