26th Inter Central Power Sector Undertakings (ICPSU) Carrom Tournamentorganized by THDC India Limited successfully concluded Rishikesh, June 28, 2023–The 26th ICPSU Carrom Tournament organized by THDC India Limited at Rishikesh has been successfully concluded at Rishikesh. This Five-day event, from 24th to 28th June, 2023 organizedunder the prestigious banner of the Power Sports Control Board, PSCB (MOP), was aimed to promote sportsmanship, camaraderie, and healthy competition between the participants. Total 11 Male teams and 08 Female teams of Power Sector viz. Ministry of Power(MOP), Central Electricity Authority (CEA), Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB), National Hydro Electric Power Corporation(NHPC), Grid India, Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Ltd (SJVNL), North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited (NEEPCO), Power Finance Corporation (PFC), Rural Electrification Corporation Ltd. (REC), Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) and host team THDC India Limited (THDCIL) participated in this tournament. Sh. R. K. Vishnoi, Chairman and Managing Director, THDC India Limitedcongratulated the winners for their outstanding performances and expressed delight and stated that this event has showcased the immense talent and dedication of the participants. He commended their hard work, skill, and sportsmanship throughout this tournament. Sh. Vishnoi emphasized the importance of such sporting events in promoting a healthy and active lifestyle among the employees and fostering a sense of camaraderie within the PSUs. He further added that the ICPSU Carrom Tournament at THDCIL has not only provided a platform for friendly competition but also served as a means of building strong relationships and strengthening bonds among CPSUs. He expressed his satisfaction with the professional acumen by which the tournament has been organized with complete transparency and objectivity. He conveyed gratitude to the Uttaranchal Carrom Association led by Sh. A. K. Gupta, InternationalReferee of the tournament for their exceptional efforts in ensuring a seamless and fair competition. Sh. A. B. Goel, ED (Finance) while addressing the gathering as Chief Guest during the closing ceremony, emphasized the importance of sports and stated that the participants displayed their dedication, talent, and unwavering passion for the game, making the event a grand success. He congratulated the winners by presenting them with well-deserved awards and accolades. The event was attended by senior officers and employees of THDCIL. In this 05-day Carrom Tournament, team championship matches, Doubles and Singles matches for men and women were played. In the Men's Team Championship matches, team PFC achieved first position, PGCIL securedsecond and CEA secured third position whereas in Women’s Team Championship matches,team MoP secured first position,PGCIL secured second position and SJVN achieved third position. In Men’s Doubles Matches, Sh. Paritosh Gupta and Sh. M. P. Chamoli from team MoP won first prize, Sh. R. K. Sensua and Sh. Md.Nafis from team NEEPCO secured second position and Sh. Himanshu Soni and Sh. Vinay Garg from team PFC secured third position. In women’s Doubles matches, Ms. Jaya Chaudhary and Ms. Saroj Devi from team MoP secured first place, Ms. Manjusha and Ms. Vijaylaxmi from team PGCIL secured second and Ms. Garima Singh and Ms. Lakshmi G. from team PGCIL secured third positions. In Men’s Single matches, Sh. Rakesh Sharma from team PFC secured first position, Sh. Md. Nafis from NEEPCO and Sh. OM Prakash from NHPC secured second and third positions. In Women’s Single matches, Ms. Saroj Devi from team MoP secured first position, Ms. Jaya Chaudhary from MoP and Ms. Nisha Atil from team CEA secured second and third positions. THDCIL is one of the premier power generators in the country with installed capacity of 1587 MW with commissioning of Tehri Dam HPP (1000MW), Koteshwar HEP (400MW) in Uttarakhand, Wind Power Projects of 50MW at Patan 63MW at Dwarka in Gujarat, 24MW Dhukwan Small Hydro Project, Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh and 50 MW Solar Power Project at Kasaragod, Kerala to its credit.
