Bokang Bailing HEP-(BBHEP – 165 MW) is on river Dhauliganga (a tributary of Kali / Sarda river) in District Pithoragarh in the state of Uttrakhand with a proposed installed capacity of 165 MW. The project is approachable from Tanakpur-Khela and is located at a distance of 310Km from Tanakpur. The nearest rail head is located at Tanankpur and nearest airport is located at Pant Nagar (Udhamsingh Nagar).
The proposal considered by NBWL &GoUK and has agreed to permit THDCIL for Survey & Investigation works as the project lies outside the protected area.
Consultant for preparation of DPR work of BokangBailing has been awarded on JV of M/s JSC “Institute Hydro Project” Moscow, Russia (Lead Partner) and M/S Sai Engineering Foundation on 12.03.2019.
EIA/EMP studies is underway through WAPCOS and Draft EIA/EMP Report is pending due to unavailability of approved FRL and TWL of Bokang Bailing HEP, which is pending from GoUK.
THDCIL in a meeting on 07.09.2022 has decided that TWL 2813m be adopted for DPR and a letter for approval be sent to GoUK as per the present condition to expedite the DPR work. In this regard, a letter was written to GoUK on 08.09.2022 and the same was apprised during virtual meeting taken by Secretary (Urja), GoUK on 12.09.2022.
In reference to the discussion held in the meeting of Secretary (Urja), GoUK dtd.12.09.2022, a request letter was written to GoUK on 12.09.2022 for widening of Tawaghat-Tidang road and strengthening of steel bridges for 70R capacity for movement of the equipments during execution of Project.
Field investigations are targeted to be completed by Jun-2023 and Draft DPR is expected to be submitted in CEA by Aug-2023.
