Rishikesh, 08.11.2021:24th Inter Central Power Sector Undertakings (ICPSU) Carrom Tournament commenced at THDC India Limited (THDCIL), Rishikesh. The five-day ICPSU tournament is played under the aegis of Power Sports Control Board, PSCB (MOP). Sh. J. Behera, Director (Finance) inaugurated this 05-Day Tournament from 08th to 12th November, 2021.While addressing the gathering during the inaugural ceremony Sh. J. Behera, D(F), THDCIL formally declared the tournament open. He stressed on the importance of sports and encouraged everyone to proactively contribute in promoting sports for wider National Interest. It is to mention that total 11Male teams and 9 Female teams of Power Sector viz. Ministry of Power(MOP), Central Electricity Authority (CEA),Bharkra Beas Management Board (BBMB), National Hydro Electric Power Corporation(NHPC), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL), Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Ltd (SJVNL), Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC), North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited (NEEPCO), Power System Operation Corporation Limited (POSOCO), Power Finance Corporation (PFC) and host team THDC India Limited (THDCIL) are participating in this tournament. On this occasion, Sh. Veer Singh, GM (HR) delivered the welcome address. On the first day of the CarromTournament, team championship matches for men and women were played. In the men's section, team MOP defeated team PFC by 2-1 points, team POSOCO defeated team SJVNL by 3-0 points, team CEA defeated team THDCIL by 3-0 points and team NHPC defeated PGCIL by 2-1 points and entered in the next round. Whereas in women's section NEEPCO defeated team THDCIL by 2-1 points, team POSOCO defeated team PGCIL by 2-1 points and team NHPC defeated team MOP by 2-1 points to enter in the next round.Ms. Mehak Sharma, Senior HR Officermanaged the stage during the event. Today, THDCIL is one of the premier power generators in the country with installed capacity of 1587 MW with commissioning of Tehri Dam HPP (1000MW), Koteshwar HEP (400MW) in Uttarakhand, Wind Power Projects of 50MW at Patan 63MW at Dwarka in Gujarat, 24MW Dhukwan Small Hydro Project, Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh and 50 MW Solar Power Project at Kasaragod, Kerala to its credit.
